1. The Service
ToolScope is a curated directory of open-source projects, online tools and browser extensions. We select what to include, write or generate the descriptions, and keep the directory up to date. The Service is operated by an independent operator (“we”, “us”).
2. Accounts
- Browsing the directory does not require an account. Member and account features — favourites, AI comparisons, recommendations and member reports — do. For those, you must provide an email address you control and keep your password confidential.
- Accounts are for one person. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the Service — including attempts to bypass authentication, rate limits, or access restrictions.
3. Plans and pricing
- Free. Browsing the directory is free.
- Pro. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly at the price shown on the pricing page at the time of purchase.
- Features may evolve over time. If a change materially reduces what a paid plan provides, we will tell you before your current paid period ends.
4. Billing and cancellation
- Payments are processed by PayPal. We never receive or store your full card details.
- Plans are one-time purchases — they do not renew automatically. A monthly plan gives 30 days of Pro access; a yearly plan gives 365 days. When the period ends the account simply returns to the Free plan, and no further charge is made.
- Because nothing renews automatically, there is nothing to cancel. If you do not want to continue, do nothing and you will not be charged again. To continue, buy another period from the pricing page at any time — it is added to your existing expiry date, so you never lose remaining days.
- We email you before a paid period ends so the change is not a surprise. If you would rather not receive that reminder, tell us and we will stop sending it.
- Failed or reversed payments may cause the account to revert to the Free plan.
5. Refunds
Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy, which gives you 14 days for a full refund of a charge you believe was made in error.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, bulk-download, republish or resell the directory or its descriptions, or use them to build a competing dataset;
- access the Service other than through the interface we provide, or circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other technical restrictions;
- interfere with the Service or attempt to gain access to data or accounts that are not yours;
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to infringe the rights of others.
The directory — including our curation decisions, descriptions and editorial selections — is our intellectual property. The listed projects themselves belong to their respective authors under their own licenses; we are not affiliated with them and do not claim any rights over them.
7. Third-party projects and links
The Service links to third-party websites and software. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, licenses, availability or security. Inclusion is not an endorsement, and a removal request is not a statement about quality.
8. AI-generated content
Descriptions, category assignments, comparisons and other summaries may be generated or assisted by AI. They can be incomplete or wrong. Treat them as a starting point for your own evaluation, not as professional, legal or investment advice. Always check the source project before relying on a claim.
9. Availability and changes to the Service
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance or security reasons. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms. On termination, the sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, liability and governing law) continue to apply.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the operator’s principal place of business, and the courts of that jurisdiction have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify registered users by email or in the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
